A brief about Angels in Islam
Views:
Believing in angels is very important, it is one of the Faith's basics, The Imaan (faith) will not be completed and wont be accepted from you if you don't believe in them. If anyone do not believe in angels it's like not believing in Allah.
Allah (God) has made believing in angels before the books or even the prophets and the day of judgment, it is the second basic of Imaan (faith) after believing in almighty Allah.
Allah says in the Quran (interpretation of the meaning):
''The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers, [saying], "We make no distinction between any of His messengers." And they say, "We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the [final] destination." [Al Bakarah . 285]
The Prophet Muhammed (Peace be upon him) said: ''Angels was created from light, the jinn was created from fire and adam was created from what was described to you (from Dust)''.
Does Angels have wings?
Angels have wings, some have two wings, some three or four, and more, like Angel Jibril (Gabriel) have 600 wing.
Allah said in the quran (interpretation of the meaning):
''[All] praise is [due] to Allah , Creator of the heavens and the earth, [who] made the angels messengers having wings, two or three or four. He increases in creation what He wills. Indeed, Allah is over all things competent''. [fātir.1]
Does angels have tasks to do like rain, thinder etc...?
if we look at the world, we will see the clouds, thunder and rain, wind, and if we think deeply how everything is beautiful and how everything working well and properly, we will know that Almighty Allah have a soldiers of Angels . has filled the heavens and earth.they what Allah ask them.
do angels eat or drink?
Angels does not eat, drink, sleep or breed, they are not like us.
Could Angel change their creation?
they Also can change by Allah's wills, No one can see the Angels in their real creation, unless Allah wants to show them to whoever he (Allah) wants. they are a thing of the unseen things, that only Allah knows about it.
The Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) saw Jibril (Gabriel) twice, in his (jibril) real creation. the first time was between his house and Ghar Hiraa (cave of hiraa).
Allah said (interpretation of the meaning): ''And he (Muhammad) has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon''. [at-takwir-23]
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has described Gabriel, he said his creation (Gabriel) was very great and has filled what between the heavens and earth, he have 600 wing. the Rubies and pearls falling from his wings.
the second time when Prophet Muhammad saw Angel Jibril (Gabriel) was in the Heaven in Israa and Mi'raaj ( two parts of an miraculous journey that Prophet Muhammad took in one night from Makka to Jerusalem and then an ascension to the heavens,), in his (Gabriel) real creation.
Allah said (interpretation of the meaning):
''And he certainly saw him in another descent 13, At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14, Near it is the Garden of Refuge -15.'' [ An-Najm ]
-ibn masoud reported that Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) ''has saw gabriel, he have six hundred wing''
Also Jibril (Gabriel) represented himself to Mary as a man, Not as Allah has created him.
Allah said in the quran (interpretation of the meaning):
''And mention, [O Muhammad], in the Book [the story of] Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east 16 , And she took, in seclusion from them, a screen. Then We sent to her Our Angel, and he represented himself to her as a well-proportioned man 17.'' [ Maryam ]
and the three men has came to Ibrahim, and he slaughtered a bull for them, then he invited them to eat but he didn't see them eating. then he got scared, they told him dont be scared, We are a messengers from Allah (God).They were The three heads of Angels [ Gabriel, Israfil, Mikael]. they represented themselves to ibrahim as men.
when the human being is just a sperm in the mother stomach (before the baby created, while he/sh is a sperm), Allah will ask an angel to write four things about the baby whos going to be created, these four things are:
1- His/her livelihood ,
2- Age ,
3- Deeds,
4- Miserable or Happy.
Angels lives around human being, and every single person have a Consort Angel, they count and record the deeds, good and bad, they guard the believers from evils too.
Allah said in the quran (interpretation of the meaning):
''Man does not utter any word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record] ''. [Qaf-18]
Are Angels Males or Females?
The Non-believers said the Angels are females, they were wrong by saying that. in fact we cant tell if they are males or females. and so Almighty Allah has Answered them and said in the Quran (interpretation of the meaning):
'' And they have made the angels, who are servants of the Most Merciful, females. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded, and they will be questioned''. [ AZ-Zukhruf - 19 ]
according to the above verse we knew that Angels are not Males or Females. we do not know how they look like.
Does Angels disobey or dont worship Allah?
they do not disobey what Allah (God) has commanded them and they do what they are commanded.
Allah said in the quran (interpretation of the meaning):
''O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allah in what He commands them but do what they are commanded''.[At-Tahrim.6]
Angels are the best servants of Allah and worshippers ever. They Praise and worship Allah and do their Tasks properly.
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has mentioned an Angel who have been Sajid to Allah (kneeling, worshiping Allah) , Since before Allah has created the earth (world), and the Angel have been saying to Allah '' O' The mighty, O' possessor of the kingdom, O' The Ever Living O' who dont die '', And the Angel Does not raise his head up and keep worshipping Allah till the Day of Resurrection, then when he (Angel) raise his head up will say: ''Glory be to you Allah'', we did not worship you as you deserve''.
The meaning of this saying is: Almighty Allah is the Greatest and He deserve to be worshipped and no one has the right to be worshipped except Him (Allah), praise be to him. and the Angels loves Allah and they love to worship Him.
Number of Angels:
There is so many Angels, we dont know their numbers, only Allah knows. but if we want to know about them lets read what Angel Gabriel has said to the prophet Muhammad during Al Israa and Mi'raaj ( two parts of an miraculous journey that Prophet Muhammad took in one night from Makka to Jerusalem and then an ascension to the heavens).
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) saw a house in the seventh Heaven, Gabriel told Muhammad this is ''Al bayt al ma'mour'' البيت المعمور (the Overfilling house), A Seventy thousand of Angels enter to it everyday, and they will not go back to it again, when they come out, other Seventy thousand enter to it. without coming back. Etc.. Al bayt Al ma'mor (the Overfilling house) is like the Kabaa in Makkah '' we do our Haj and omra in mekkah and the Angels do it in al bayt al ma'mor (the Overfilling house) in heavens.
Allah said (interpretation of the meaning):
''And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity ''.
[Al-Muddathir - 31]
This verse states clearly that nobody knows the number of Angels except Allah.
Do Angels prays for muslims and they could be arround them?
Angels prays for the Believers and ask Allah to forgive their sins, and if they hear people reciting the Quran they come down to listen to it with them, Once ousayd ibnu hudayr was reciting the Quran and he saw a white shadows coming down from the heaven, then his horse started to jump and Neighing so he got scared about his son yahya that he was with him. he had to stop reciting the Quran, and when he asked the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) about what happened, he told him those are the Angels, they came to listen to the Quran .
they even attend the moments of the death of the believers, and tell them to dont be scared, and they tell them that you will be in paradise that Allah promised you.
Allah said in Quran (interpretation of the meaning):
Indeed, those who have said, "Our Lord is Allah " and then remained on a right course - the angels will descend upon them, [saying], "Do not fear and do not grieve but receive good tidings of Paradise, which you were promised''.'' [Fussilat - 30]
Angels also attend the moments of death of the disbelievers, they slap them on their faces and smite them on their back and tell them Allah is Angry upon you and you will be in Hell Fire.
Allah said (interpretation of the meaning):
'' If thou you see how the angels receive those who disbelieve, smiting their faces and their backs and (saying): Taste the punishment of burning ''. [Al-Anfal-50]
does Angles be where Fisq is commited?
Angels dont like us to do sins , they never enter a house that have a pictures, statue or dog in it. they dont be where the music is playing and where the bad things happening.
but they always be with the believers, the good people, who prays, recite the quran and avoid the bad deeds and do good deeds.
Are Angels Big?
- Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said : ' I had the Authorization (from Allah) to talk about one of the angels whom carrying the throne, The distance between the lobe of the angel's ear and his shoulder is marching of seven hundred years'.
the meaning: the distance between the angel's lobe of his ear and his shoulder is 700 years of marching.
- ''The prophet Muhammad saw Jibril (Gabriel) and he (Gabriel) filled what between the heaven and earth''
believing in Angels is one of Faith's Beliefs, we must believe in them. we dont have to tell things about them, only what we have known from what Allah and his Prophets Muhammad (Peace be upon him) had told us.
''If im correct is from Allah, Alone. and if im wrong is from myself and satan (evil)''
