Ibn Umar -May Allah be pleased with him- said: I heard the Messenger of Allah Muhammad -peace be upon him- said:

{Islam is built on five,  Testifying that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and Establishing Prayer (Salaat), Almsgiving (giving Zakah),  and Pilgrimage (Hajj), and Fasting during Ramadan (Siyam)}. ''agreed''

The Five Pillars of Islam are as follows:

1- The Declaration of Faith (Shahadah): To testify that there is no God but Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.

2- Prayer (Salaat): Prayer is a direct connection between the person (worshipper) and the creator (Allah),  and there is five prayers a day,  we must perform each prayer in its time.

3- Almsgiving (giving Zakah): Giving a certain amount of money to the poor and needy , it creates more harmony in the community between the rich and the poor.

4- Pilgrimage (Hajj): Performing Hajj is one time in the life, Provided that you could afford it financially and physically.  you could perform it two times if so,  to make your faith in Allah stronger.

5- Fasting Ramadan (Siyaam) :  Fasting the month of Ramadan is an essential act of worship.  We (Muslims) fast one month from every year,  fasting starts from dawn till dusk, while fasting we have to abstain from food and drinks etc..,  but those who are elderly, Non-adults , sick, traveling, pregnant and menstruating women are permitted to break the fast and they fast the days that they did not fast later in the year when they can.
